- 70% of globe is water and 30% is land.
- Of the total water available globally:
- 97% is salty and not useable, and only 3% is fresh or useable water.
- Of this 3% fresh water:-
- 2% is in the form of glacier & ice, and only remaining 1% is available on renewable basis.
- Out of this 1% available on renewable basis:
- 2% is inaccessible; and only 0.8% is available for use of mankind.
- Current world population of 6 billion would increase to 8 billion in the year 2025. Thus these 8 billion people would depend on the same quantity of 0.8% of total water on the globe.
- 70 – 75% of 1% renewable water comes in 3 to 4 months of the year.
